***PLEASE CROSSPOST***

Frodo (we're calling him that for now - my boyfriend thinks he should be named after a hobbit??? hehe) was rescued in North Carolina yesterday. His humans moved away and instead of bringing him with them, they left him chained to the side of the house with no shelter, food, or water. He is now in a wonderful, TEMPORARY foster home, and needs somewhere to go ASAP!

He is a fence climber! Well, at last a 4 ft. chain linked one, so needs a high fence. He is very good natured, approx. 60 lbs and 1 1/2 years old. He's been wormed and has had his rabies and bortatella. And, he's good with kids and other dogs!

He is NOT neutered. I have sent around a ChipIn, trying to raise money for local rescues, but haven't had much luck. (Thank you, Ellie, for your donation!!!) If you can even just donate $5-$10, every little bit helps. We have to get enough to get this guy neutered so he can be adopted out.

I am also selling DDB calendars for $10 each, for those of you who are nearby!

A picture is attached. If you are able to foster/adopt this little guy, Please contact me, Kathryn, at (205) 567-1404, or email me at loveablackdog@gmail.com! THANKS!

Carrol's dogs need... HELP!!!

We have got to pull together to find these dogs homes! Please, if you can find it in your heart to help, or know someone who can, visit:

http://forgottenpaws.com/GreenAcres.htm

NEEDED:
Transports
Fosters
Forever Homes!!!

These dogs are in danger of being PTS any day now!

Who wants to adopt Shelly?

Shelly is a sweet shepherd/husky mix. She is being fostered by a nice lady in McCalla, who has treated her for heartworms and put her on heartworm preventative medication and Advantix. She is up-to-date on her shots and has been spayed. She showed up at her house in June and is wonderful with humans, including children, but should be an only dog with no cats.
She is probably about 5 or 6 years old and approx. 46 lbs. Right now, she is outside and tethered most of the time. She is pretty much house trained, and has an old injury to one of her rear legs.

If you are interested in adopting this little girl, please reply to this post or email Polly at:

Meet Tabby:

Tabby was born around July 2 and has a very loving nature. She is being fostered right now, but needs a forever home soon! Her foster family travels a lot and wants Tabby to be with a family who can spend some quality time with her. Well, they think she's a "her". She may be too young to tell. She is always wanting someone to play with, even their dog! Tabby is grey and fluffy with multiple grey stripes, going from light to darker stripes.

Please contact Jo Ann at (205) 948-6277 if you would like to meet Tabby! They will gladly bring her to you.

Happy Tales...

Merlin is a kitten that Matt's sister rescued a few months ago. She called me, and of course I said, "Yes!!! I'll take him!" He was with us for about a month, when I found out a girl at work was looking for a kitten/cat. Well, they adopted Mr. Merlin, and he is a very happy kitty!

Lorna Road kitties need our help!

There are thirty cats living off of Lorna Rd. in Hoover that need to be spayed and neutered!
Carrie and some others have trapped five so far and have had them fixed, but donations are needed to do the rest!

You can help you can buy a low cost spay/neuter certificate at Alabama Animal Adoption Society in Homewood and mail these to:
Galleria Animal Clinic
2953 Hwy 150
Hoover, AL 35244.

Please help with any donations to help stop these cats from having more babies!!

Carrie says she will feed them everyday. She says it just breaks her heart because they wait for her to come water and feed them.

The certificates are a tax write off!
We hope to raise enough certificates to fix all these guys and then help others who are helping the strays!

Carrol Crocker Update:

Supreme Court Decision Has Been Reached - The Court Order Is Once Again Being Upheld

Rainsville, AL

28 Dogs Remain in Urgent Need of Placement

Time is critical to comply with the court's decision to uphold the original ruling which states that Carrol Crocker may retain 3 of her dogs and 3 cats only. We have made great strides to make this happen and with 28 remaining, the goal is an obtainable one due to the outpouring of help by many, many people. Due to the decision now being reached, all remaining animals are subject to being seized by the county.

Can you please help us to make this happen? We are almost there...

*Most pressing is:

Transport to WI for Abba, Anikan and Alexa

Transport needed to VA and Washington DC

*Groups in NY and PA who have offered your assistance, please know we are working on a transport and hope to be able to facilitate this. Since time is not on our side, we are striving to place them as quickly as possible and hope to be able to get them to you and appreciate all help that has been offered.

Meet Red...

Subj: PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO READ THIS.
I am hoping you can take a few minutes to read Red's story. He was at Coweta Animal Shelter in GA. They were out of room and Red's time was up. I met Red as I was there to pick up another dog. They even brought Red out to me in hopes I could save him, but I could not. I had no where for him to go.
I loaded up the dog I went there for and sat in my vehicle for a few minutes. I looked up and saw them taking Red out of his kennel (from the outside part). Red was soooooooo happy! Guess the poor little guy thought he made it as he was wagging his tail looking up at the human for direction. I just started to cry as I knew they were taking him to the "death room".
About an hour into my transport, I received a call. They told me that someone had spoken up for Red after they had given him the first injection. They rushed him to the vet and he was saved! It was unbelievable. But the person who spoke up for Red can only pay for boarding for a very very short time.
Will you please give Red the opportunity he deserves. I'll find a way to get him to you. He is utd on all shots. I will also sponsor him for whatever he needs while he is with you. WILL YOU PLEASE HELP RED?
Here is a picture of Red. It does not do him justice. I can be contacted at mkkain@aol.com.
Sincerely,
MK

URGENT: Carrol Crocker needs help!

I received the following email from Bill Russell today:

I have been informed that the state supreme court upheld the case AGAINST Carrol and that her dogs are in IMMEDIATE and URGENT Danger.

If anyone has a resource or a contact that might be able to foster/adopt/save any of the dogs, now is the time....

While I have no other information at this time about the decision, or any judgment or schedule, it is apparent that those who have been fighting Carrol may now take action against her and the dogs at any moment.

If anyone can do anything at all to help save dogs, now is the time.

We all will feel bad and want to console others, but at this point, please concentrate efforts to save dogs. Do not tie up phone lines or fill email boxes unless you are able to help save dogs or are able to put someone who can in touch with others.

Contact Pam, Morgan, or Jane at Sterile Feral if you are able to help save a dog now. {see links at Hope4Dogs, Heather's blog.

The number of dogs is getting smaller...

but, there are still so many that need to be saved!

I am fostering Prince Albert, and several others have been adopted/fostered by people I know. Each story is the same. Most of these dogs were outside dogs, and have never been on a leash. Well, Prince Albert is just that - a prince. He walks wonderfully on a leash, and hasn't had an accident in the house, yet! He is not aggressive. He has such good manners and gets along great with Belle and my kitties!

If you are considering adding a new furry member to your family, please consider these angels. Volunteers are available to transport them, if you live out of state. You can also visit your local animal shelter or rescue organization.
